What is a ‘late claim’?

In a number of villages there were parcels which were demarcated in the fields but which were not subsequently claimed or recorded in the village register. These parcels are recorded on the map but have not been certified and certificates have not been issued.

This may take place for a variety of reasons:

• A family group may have needed more time to discuss how they were going to register and certify the demarcated field
• People may have been absent during the certification period, although they were able to ask someone to demarcate their fields
